Anybody irrespective of age, sex, caste, religion, community, or suffering from current or past medical conditions can pledge to become an organ and tissue donor. However, children (below 18 years of age), should provide a consent for organ and tissue donation from their parents.
People who wish to donate their organs and tissues can register/pledge with an organ donor registry and by taking a donor card. A donor card will help in identifying the donor/knowing the wish of a brain dead person and will save crucial time in the process of organ donation.
Organ donation is not indicated in people suffering from cancer, active infections like sepsis, HIV infection, and hepatitis B & C. However, rarely, organ donors with HIV and hepatitis B& C have donated to the patients with similar infections.
Pledge to donate your body organs for humanity. Organ Donor India in association with MOHAN Foundation will provide a donor card for all donors. All the pledges will be forwarded to the National Organ Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO).
